From the 1870s to the present day, the work of Irish artists has been frequently presented through the exhibitions of a number of independent art societies, including the Dublin Art Club, Dublin Painters, the Dublin Sketching Club, Independent Artists, the Irish Exhibition of Living Art, and the Water Colour Society of Ireland. This index spanning a century and containing many thousands of entries, is the first and the only comprehensive catalogue of these exhibitions.
