This book draws together contemporary critical perspectives on this unique voice in Irish writing, the subversive voice of the Big House novelist charting the end of her class and the imminent collapse of a literary genre.

Eibhear Walshe lectures in the department of Modern English, University College Cork and is the editor of Elizabeth Bowen remembered. Gwenda Young is a lecturer in film studies, University College Cork. Her main research interest is American cinema, especially silent film.
