Community in early modern Ireland

The theme of 'community' has proved a focus of considerable interest in recent historiography, but has been neglected in its application to Ireland. Here the question of 'community' is pursued in terms of the political, cultural, social and religious condition of Ireland, and in its European context.

Tadhg Ó hAnnracháin is lecturer in Irish history at University College Dublin, and author of Catholic Reformation in Ireland: the mission of Rinuccini 1645–1649 (2002). Robert Armstrong is lecturer in modern history at Trinity College Dublin and author of Protestant war: the 'British' of Ireland and the wars of the three (2005).
